Hereditary Eye Disease Clinic at MCKC
Dr. Gregory Acland, BVSc Professor of Medical Genetics will conduct a CERF Clinic on Saturday afternoon and Sunday at the MCKC show site, Montgomery County Community College. Dr. Acland is particularly interested in looking at the Irish terrier breeds, but will look at any of the terriers, especially old dogs. He is most interested in looking at dogs with a history of PRA, suspected PRA or other hereditary eye disease. However, he will conduct an examination on any dog brought to him.
Dr. Acland is associated with Cornell University and The Baker Institute for Animal Health. He will have both cheek swabs and supplies for collecting blood from dogs for DNA studies and would really like to collect blood from any dogs with "interesting" eye lesions and some of their relatives.
The clinic will be on the grounds of the MCKC on Saturday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.; Sunday from 9:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M. There is no fee but donations are welcome for Dr. Acland's research. Please contact Maura High for more information at coleraine@centurytel.net or (816) 296-7030
